Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy explains what information Life License Exam (“we”, “us”) collects through the Life Insurance License Exam iOS app (the “App”) and the website lifelicenseexam.com (the “Site”), why, and what choices you have. We collect only what we need to run exam practice, save your exam profile and process purchases. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party ads.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, Google or an email code, we receive a user ID and, if you share it, your email address and name. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email; we then receive a relay address. We never receive or store your Apple or Google password.

Study information

Your selected state, exam and exam date are stored in your account. Diagnostic and practice answers, mock-exam results, saved and missed questions, review schedules, study activity and readiness are stored on your device in the current app. These local records are used to calculate study estimates and choose practice material. They are not all synchronized between devices. The app also stores the version and time of your Terms acceptance locally.

Question reports

If you report a question as wrong or unclear, we store the report, the question it refers to and your note.

Feedback

If you send feedback from Settings, we store your message, the topic you chose, whether we may email you back, your selected exam and state, and the app version.

Product analytics (App)

To understand which parts of the App help people study and where they get stuck, the App sends usage events to PostHog: for example, finishing onboarding or the diagnostic, starting and completing practice, meeting a daily goal, opening the paywall, and opening or leaving the App. Events can include details such as your selected plan intensity, a practice score or the number of days until your exam. They are linked to a random identifier and, once you sign in, to your account ID. We do not send your email address or name, we do not record your screen, and we do not use the advertising identifier.

Purchase information

Subscription or one-time purchase status, product, and Apple transaction identifiers. Payments are processed by Apple; we never see or store your card details.

Device and diagnostic information

Device model, iOS version, app version, a device identifier for vendor (IDFV) used by our purchase provider, and technical logs needed to fix errors.

Notifications

The app registers a device token for push notifications and associates it with your signed-in account. Permission to display reminders is controlled separately in iOS Settings.

Website

The free practice test runs in your browser and stores progress locally. Analytics also receives your selected state, study-time choices, whether answers are correct, and your test score. If you join the waitlist, the information described below is sent with your signup. We measure visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and records pages viewed, referrer, country and device type without identifying you. We also use PostHog to understand how the free test is used: page views, which steps people complete, clicks, and session recordings of page content and interactions. Input fields are masked, but information displayed elsewhere on a page can be recorded. PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage; this is a pseudonymous identifier, not a guarantee of anonymity. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and reliability.

Launch waitlist

If you join the waitlist on the Site, we store your email address, the state and exam date you choose, your free-test score if you took it, where on the Site you signed up, and your consent. We use it only to email you about the launch and your exam, and delete it on request.

What we do not collect

We do not request precise device location, contacts, health data, photos, microphone input or the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. How we use information

  • Create and secure your account and sync your selected exam, state and exam date between devices.
  • Deliver practice, review, mock exams, readiness and your study plan.
  • Process purchases, restore them, and unlock premium features.
  • Send study reminders you have turned on.
  • Review question reports and feedback, and correct the question bank.
  • Understand how the App is used so we can improve lessons, the study plan and reminders.
  • Fix bugs, prevent abuse, answer support requests and meet legal obligations.

4. Service providers

We share data only with providers that run parts of the App for us, and only what they need:

  • Supabase — authentication, database and backend functions, including account deletion. Account and study data. Privacy policy
  • Adapty — purchase and subscription management. User ID, IDFV, device model and OS, purchase history and paywall interactions. Privacy policy
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchases and push notifications. Privacy policy
  • Google — only if you choose Sign in with Google. Privacy policy
  • PostHog — product analytics (US region). For the Site: usage events and session recordings. For the App: usage events linked to a random identifier or your account ID, without session recordings. Privacy policy
  • Vercel — hosting of the Site and cookieless visit analytics. Privacy policy

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

5. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove the account and associated data from our active systems and clear study records on the device used for deletion. Other devices must reconnect or have their local app data removed. Limited records may be kept longer where the law requires it (for example purchase records) or to resolve disputes and prevent fraud, and backups expire on their normal cycle.

6. Deleting your account

In the App go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and progress. You can also email examprepappios@gmail.com from the address linked to your account; we respond within 30 days. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel a subscription — manage that in your Apple ID settings.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and California law), you may ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent. Write to examprepappios@gmail.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Children

The App is intended for adults aged 18 and over preparing for a professional license and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access to the database is restricted by row-level security, and we do not store payment cards or passwords. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you where the law requires.

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; for material changes we will also notify you in the App.
